Description
A quick and easy weeknight dinner featuring smoked kielbasa seared with bell peppers, onions, and broccoli in a sticky, sweet, and savory honey garlic glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12–14 oz pre-cooked smoked kielbasa, sliced into half-moon shapes
- 2 medium bell peppers (red and yellow recommended), diced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 4–5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup broccoli florets, cut small
- 1/3 cup honey
- 3 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp oil (for searing, if needed)
Instructions
- Prep ingredients: Slice kielbasa, dice peppers and onion, mince garlic, and cut broccoli into small florets. Whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and water in a small bowl.
- Sear the kielbasa: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil if necessary. Sear kielbasa for 3-4 minutes until lightly charred on all sides, then set aside or push to the side.
- Sauté veggies: In the same pan, cook diced onions and bell peppers for 3 minutes until softening. Add broccoli and minced garlic, cooking for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Combine and simmer: Return kielbasa to the pan. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the mixture. Simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens into a glaze.
- Finish with butter: Remove from heat. Stir in 1 tbsp butter until melted and incorporated. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Serve immediately: Garnish with sesame seeds or green onions if desired. Serve hot with rice, quinoa, or crusty bread.
Notes
Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure proper searing. Keep heat at medium or medium-low once the sauce is added to prevent the honey from burning. Kielbasa is salty, so taste before adding extra salt. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
