One-Pan Ground Beef Cobbler: 20-Minute Easy Dinner

  • Author: ava_chapman
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and hearty one-pan dinner featuring savory ground beef and vegetables topped with fluffy biscuits, ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Ground Beef (80/20 fat ratio)
  • 1 Small Onion (diced)
  • 2 Cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 Can (10.5 oz) Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 1 Cup Frozen Peas and Carrots
  • 1 Can (16.3 oz) Refrigerated Biscuits
  • 1 Teaspoon Paprika
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and diced onion, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon. Cook until beef is no longer pink and onions are soft. Drain excess fat if needed and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and paprika. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  3. Pour in the condensed soup and milk. Stir well to combine and simmer for 1-2 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
  4. Stir in the frozen peas and carrots.
  5. Open the can of biscuits. If they are large, cut them in half to ensure even cooking. Keep them cold until ready to use.
  6. Preheat oven to 400°F. Place the skillet with the beef mixture in the oven and bake for 10 minutes.
  7. Remove the skillet carefully. Place the biscuit halves on top of the hot beef mixture. Return to the oven and bake for another 5-7 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow the gravy to set.

Notes

Do not skip the resting step; if you cut into it immediately, the gravy will be runny. Ensure beef is well-browned for depth of flavor. If using lean beef, add a splash of broth to keep it moist. For low-sodium options, use low-sodium soup and milk.
