Description
These grilled feta ham rolls are a quick, bold, and savory party appetizer that combines smoky ham, creamy feta cheese, and a sweet honey glaze. Perfect for BBQs, game day, or last-minute gatherings, they take less than 20 minutes to prepare.
Ingredients
- Smoked ham slices (thick-cut, approx. 1/4 inch thick)
- Feta cheese block (Greek feta preferred, drained and patted dry)
- Honey (runny, such as clover or wildflower)
- Black pepper (freshly cracked)
- Optional: Dried oregano or fresh thyme
- Optional: Cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes for spicy variation
- Optional: Maple syrup as honey substitute
Instructions
- Drain the block of feta cheese and pat it dry thoroughly with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Cut the feta block into 1-inch cubes.
- Lay out smoked ham slices on a clean surface. If slices are too large, cut them in half; if too thin, use two slices to ensure full coverage.
- Place a cube of feta in the center of a ham slice and roll it tightly around the cheese. Secure with a toothpick if necessary, then remove before serving.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (375°F to 400°F) and oil the grates well.
- Place the ham rolls on the grill and cook for 3-4 minutes on the first side until grill marks appear and ham starts to crisp.
- Flip the rolls carefully and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side until the ham is cooked through and the cheese is warm.
- While grilling, warm the honey in a microwave-safe bowl for 10 seconds or in a small saucepan.
- Remove rolls from the grill, drizzle with warm honey, and sprinkle with freshly cracked black pepper and optional herbs.
- Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
Ensure the feta is completely dry before rolling to prevent the ham from sliding off. Roll the ham tightly to keep the cheese inside. Do not overcook, or the cheese may leak out. If using a grill pan, ensure good ventilation. These are best served fresh but can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days.
