Crispy Air Fryer Fish: 5-Min Easy Healthy Dinner

  • Author: ava_chapman
  • Total Time: 22 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and healthy dinner recipe featuring white fish fillets coated in a seasoned panko and parmesan mixture, cooked in an air fryer for a restaurant-quality crunch without the grease.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs White Fish Fillets (Tilapia, cod, or haddock)
  • 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Dried Parsley
  • 1 tsp Old Bay Seasoning
  • 2 large Eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup Buttermilk or Milk
  • Cooking Spray (olive or avocado oil)
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. In a shallow bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, and Old Bay seasoning.
  3. In a second shallow bowl, whisk eggs with buttermilk or milk until smooth.
  4. Dip each fillet into the egg wash, letting excess drip off, then press firmly into the panko mixture to coat all sides.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  6. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil and arrange fish fillets in a single layer without overlapping.
  7. Spray the tops of the fish generously with oil spray.
  8. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping the fish halfway through (around the 6-minute mark).
  9. Fish is done when it flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  10. Serve immediately for best crunch.

Notes

Ensure fish is completely dry before breading to prevent coating from sliding off. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary. If breadcrumbs burn before fish is cooked, lower temperature to 380°F and add 2-3 minutes. For frozen fish, ensure it is fully thawed and patted dry before starting.
