Creamy Beef Noodle Casserole: One Pan 30-Min Meal

  • Author: ava_chapman
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick, one-pan weeknight dinner featuring tender egg noodles, savory ground beef, and a rich, creamy cheddar sauce. Perfect for busy families and picky eaters.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
  • 8 oz dried egg noodles
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1.5 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a large 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and diced onion, breaking the beef apart with a wooden spoon. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until beef is browned and onions are soft (5-7 minutes). Drain excess grease, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Add minced garlic in the last minute of cooking.
  2. Add dry egg noodles, condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet. Stir well to combine. Ensure liquid barely covers the noodles; add a little water if needed. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to medium-low.
  3. Simmer for 10-12 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking, until noodles are tender but still have a slight bite (al dente) and sauce has thickened.
  4. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in half of the shredded cheddar cheese and dried parsley until the cheese is fully melted and incorporated.
  5. Let the casserole rest in the pan for 5 minutes to allow the sauce to set. Top with remaining cheese if desired. Serve immediately with a side salad or steamed vegetables.

Notes

For best results, use block cheese and shred it yourself to ensure smooth melting. Do not add cheese while the pan is on high heat to prevent separation. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of milk; if too thin, simmer for another 2 minutes. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
