Description
Recreate the famous restaurant-quality garlic parmesan shrimp at home in under 10 minutes. This copycat recipe features crispy, buttery shrimp coated in parmesan and garlic, offering a fast, flavorful, and elegant meal.
Ingredients
- 1 to 1.5 pounds large shrimp (peeled, deveined, and patted dry)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 4 to 5 cloves fresh garlic (minced)
- 1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1 fresh lemon (juiced)
- Salt and black pepper (to taste)
- Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
Instructions
- Pat the shrimp thoroughly dry with paper towels to ensure a good sear.
- In a shallow dish, mix the flour, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Sprinkle the flour mixture over the shrimp and toss gently to coat lightly.
- Sprinkle the freshly grated parmesan cheese over the floured shrimp and toss again to adhere.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat for one minute, then add half of the butter and let it melt and foam.
- Add half of the shrimp to the pan in a single layer. Sear for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown and opaque. Remove to a plate.
- Add the remaining butter to the pan. Once melted, add the second batch of shrimp and cook in the same manner.
- Reduce heat to medium. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the pan. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Return all the cooked shrimp to the pan. Toss to coat in the garlic butter sauce.
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the shrimp and toss one last time to combine.
- Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
Ensure shrimp are completely dry before coating to prevent steaming. Do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary. Add garlic at the very end to prevent burning, as it cooks quickly. Use freshly grated parmesan rather than pre-shredded for better melting. Serve immediately to avoid overcooking.
